WORLD Sanctioning BARE-KNUCKLE BOXING
W.S.B.K.B
ABOUT
HISTORY
Many people these days associate BKB with travellers fighting on wasteland but the sport has origins dating back to 4000BC. Hieroglyphics have been found in ancient Egypt depicting men fighting toe to toe with wraps around their knuckles. The Greeks also had various forms of boxing throughout the history of the Olympic Games but in England, there was a huge resurgency of BKB throughout the 17th Century.
Prize-fighters would tour the country taking on all-comers. There were basic rules such as no biting or gouging but in general they were brutal free-for-alls until the Marquis of Queensbury established his rules in 1887.
